A True Leap of Faith:
How Joy and William Todd Found Their Counterpoint
I joined Christian Filipina in late December 2025. After speaking with the wonderful staff, I decided to upgrade to a three-month paid membership on January 10th, 2026. On that very first day, I used my maximum daily allowance to reach out to about 30 women. One profile stood out to me immensely: a woman named Joy.
Joy responded briefly, saying she was honored I wanted to chat, but when we moved to the online messaging system, a bit of scheduling confusion caused us to miss our first planned video call. For the next 70 days, I tried reaching out about 11 or 12 times with very little response. Joy had grown cautious—and for good reason.
What I didn’t know at the time was that the exact day I successfully contacted Joy again, she had logged onto the website specifically to delete her account. She was completely exhausted by men trying to woo her with sexuality or focusing entirely on money.
Determined to show her my true intentions, I sent her a reassuring message: I promised I would never ask her for inappropriate photos, and if she agreed never to ask me for money, I truly believed she should give us a chance. That honesty broke through the noise. She agreed to a video call on March 20th.
From Video Screen to Ring Box
The second our eyes met on that first video call, we both felt a spark that was undeniably special. Within just five days, we were already discussing marriage—but we also vowed to be wise. By the time we actually married, our combined correspondence back and forth totaled more than 400 Google Doc pages!
We spent weeks deeply exploring each other’s values, goals, hobbies, and life outlooks. We even introduced eac
h other to our families over video, inviting them to openly share our weaknesses and strengths with the other person so there would be total transparency. Joy soon knew I was the one. I felt it too, but as a traditionally cautious person, I knew I needed to meet her in person to make my final decision.
Once we knew we were on this path, Joy canceled her membership. A week later, I canceled mine.
On May 17th, I flew to Hong Kong. Within just one hour of our very first face-to-face meeting, all caution evaporated. I proposed right then and there.
Our Billion-Dollar Lottery
We were married on June 1st in Central Hong Kong Park. Standing together, we both felt like we had won a multi-billion-dollar lottery.
Our journey was incredibly fast and entirely contrary to our usual, cautious personalities. But we have learned that when you find your true counterpoint in another person, you gain the strength to do bold things. Joy is currently wrapping up her work in Hong Kong while we process her permanent residency to Canada.
Thank you, Christian Filipina, for being the bridge that brought us together. To anyone still searching: stay true to your values, be honest about your intentions, and don’t give up. Your counterpoint is out there.
