I can't believe I am here...but I guess being picky is better than being with the wrong lady. My parents are 98 and 99 and still going strong after 77 years of marriage. I watched those two wonderful people love each other for my entire life and I always hoped that I would find the same. I guess I didn't do so well. I have been married twice. After the demise of my second marriage...I decided that I was just going to be alone. Well...after I went on a trip to the Holy Land with my sisters I decided I wanted to travel and I didn't want to do it alone. My bucket list is growing long and I want to see some of those places with someone I care about. So here I am.

After my discharge from the Army as a Green Beret I hitchhiked around the United States through 42 states. From the poetry I wrote during my trip, I published the first of my 5 books. I have performed my poetry as my sole income for the past 35 years, and the poet in me chooses to believe that anything is possible. Here is one of my poems that will give you a sample of how I feel about falling in love.

Love

I love you…
it's so strange to feel this way...
for so long I was convinced
that you weren't real.
You were just a dream...
I never dreamed would stay...
and I dreamed of feelings...
I never thought I'd feel.

I always thought that love...
was a beautiful thing...
that I'd think about...
but never really find...
and I'd settle for less...
than what real love would bring...
love seemed to be...
a fantasy of mine.

So I can't believe it's happening...
though I wanted it so much...
I just never thought
it ever would come true.
I'm afraid you're going to wake me...
so be gentle when you touch...
if it's a dream...
I want to sleep my whole life through.

Like a goal set so far...
that you know you'll never get there...
I was happy just to hope that you could be...
even half the special person...
that I'm finding out you are...
and twice the love...
I ever wished for me.

I'd like to find someone who is as honest as she is pretty especially on the inside, intelligent and yet still fun, can care without being jealous, and can be friends without being possessive. I would love to find someone who is as comfortable at a presidential ball as she is in a country western bar. I would be ecstatic to find someone who can go dancing this week, and be content to stay home and watch TV next week. I am hoping to find a girl who thinks it is strange that we are both here looking to find someone in such an unlikely place as this. If any of this seems to describe you in any way, then maybe we can talk because I have pretty much described myself.
