Hours turned into days, weeks into months and months into years. I finally met her family in January 2020. It was like a dream come true spending time with Mericar and her family. They received me with such open arms. I was sad to leave to come home, but excited because I knew I could start the K1 visa once I returned to the US. Then the unexpected pandemic hit and lockdown followed. We saw a lot of relationships crumble under the pressure of the lockdown and delay but we were determined that anything worth waiting for is worth fighting for. We constantly prayed over our relationship that God would keep us during the lockdown. We looked back and said to each other it was by God’s grace that Mericar and her daughter Em came to the US.
